Following the capital raise in October, H&T hasn’t looked back. Latest H1 shows demand for small sums of short-term credit remains at record levels; the rising gold price continues to push up scrap margins; and FX is also building momentum. Overall these factors saw pretax profit up by 31% to £8.8m, eps +24% to 16.3p and the interim dividend +30% to 6.5p. A net six new stores were added in H1, taking the number of stores to 273, helping the pledge book grow 14% to £114.6m (December: £100.7m).
