Last month’s simultaneous theatrical release of two blockbusters, the fantasy comedy ‘Barbie’ and the epic biographical thriller ‘Oppenheimer,’ has provided a much-needed boost to the cinema sector. The films’ differences and simultaneous release was an instance of counterprogramming: as their release date approached, instead of generating rivalry, suggestions emerged to encourage watching both the films as a double feature.  I think the high audience turnouts to these films have been a bit of a boon for Hollywood Bowl, the largest ten pin bowling operator in the UK, as 55 of its 65 sites are adjacent or close to a cinema.
