ASOS (ASC; 450p), which runs a website that has become a go-to destination for 20-somethings, has  sprung to life since I highlighted the shares in the July issue. At the time, at 380p the shares were down 95% from their peak of £74.50, having been heavily shorted by hedge funds. But as I pointed out, the business was unmarried but not unloved, mentioning that Mike Ashley’s Frasers (FRAS; 808p) had taken a 10.5% stake, and chances were a short squeeze would soon develop. A Turkish business backed by China’s Alibaba had made an informal approach rumoured to be around the £10-12 a share level to add upwards pressure. But in August, Frasers doubled its stake to almost 20% and with other longstanding holders, Aktieselskabet and Camelo ...
