SafeCharge said H1 has seen strong year-on-year growth. The period saw it obtain principal membership for merchant acquiring status from MasterCard and Visa. The process of taking on new merchants previously involved its own client approval process along with that of the related card-acquiring bank but this change will allow it to offer merchant acquiring services directly without an acquiring partner. Assuming the acquiring role means SafeCharge can avoid the pay-aways to acquiring banks, which will enhance margins (Numis estimates a 50 basis point improvement; it might look small, they say, but across US$7 billion of transactions it is not to be sniffed at).For the full year to end December, Numis forecasts US$29.6m pretax profit ...
