The shares hit a new high of 360p after OSB released interims ahead of expectations. Loans and advances grew by 17% to £4.6bn, most of which was down to originations from the network of intermediaries although there was also a small purchase of a second charge mortgage portfolio. The company’s secured lending criteria, coupled with the improving economic backdrop in the UK resulted in hardly any (only 40 out of 17,000) loans going wrong.The lending growth was chiefly funded through retail deposits (up almost £1bn year-on-year to £4.6bn) and also participation in the government’s Funding for Lending Scheme (FLS).
