Benchmark - Buys tilapia breeding business for £11m

A good month for the shares. Expanding on Benchmark's position as the second largest global player in salmon breeding and genetics, the group has announced two acquisitions as a strategic move into breeding other species including the fast growing tilapia sector. It is buying Norwegian Akvaforsk Genetics Center (AFGC) and 80% of Spring Genetics, a US-based tilapia breeding business, for £11m. The acquisitions are expected to deliver sales of £3.1m and operating profit of £1.3m in 2016 making the deal eps enhancing from day one.The acquisitions provide Benchmark with access to customers in emerging markets, diversify its offering and fulfil Benchmark's strategic objective of offering its expertise across a range of species.AFG ...
