Tribal has reported sound progress for the first half to 30 June, its seasonally smaller half, with sales virtually unchanged at Â£57m but adjusted pretax profit up 29% to Â£3.6m whilst eps lifted by 3% to 3p. Net debt has fallen by Â£2.8m during the period to Â£13.2m, well ahead of target. The success driver has been Tribal's software business, which supplies essential IT systems for the day-to-day running of universities and further education colleges. Here, sales were up 10% to Â£25.1m and despite significant investment going into new products, operating profits lifted by Â£0.3m to Â£4.7m. Operating margins were 19%.
