The shares rocketed to new highs after upbeat interim results. Unusual, to say the least, as H1 tends to be typically the seasonally smaller half for Tarsus as most events take place in H2. This year has provided a further surprise - that given a pattern of alternating good and bad years established since 1989 it is now clear that 2012 is proving a very good year despite being an “off-year†for its big biennial events like LabelExpo Europe and the Dubai Airshow. The H1 to end June saw Tarsus book an improved profit of £1.8m, up from £0.6m, for an adjusted eps of 1p. Overall H1 sales were £19.2m, up 14% on 2010, the last biennial off year.
