Topps Tiles has issued a Q3 update showing a material improvement in the like-for-like run rate to a 10.9% decline in Q3 versus the 18.5% decline reported in H1. Overall including new stores, sales are down 9.9%. According to broker KBC Peel Hunt, Q3 was a volatile period with June being impacted by the warm weather and July was much stronger, in part because sales are correlated to transactions in the housing market and news has been positive in that respect. At the end of Q3, Topps operated from 312 stores in the UK, having opened five and closed/relocated 13 units.
