We're not the only ones to see the attractions of Lok'n'store (LOK; 77p). The company received a bid approach three months ago and although it didn't lead to a formal offer the shares rose initially, fell away again but have been slowly creeping up. In fact, the company has a history of bid approaches. The first was back in 2000 around the time of its float when a larger rival, Access Storage, acquired a 29% stake (Access placed its stake in ‘02). The second bid was in 2004 during a flurry of bid activity in the self storage sector.But this time round, the attractions are more obvious. Lok is a substantially bigger business with 23 self storage units that operate along the same general lines as its two larger rivals, Big Yellow ...
