Chairman Tim Harris has always proven adept at managing expectations. A couple of years ago, when Fisher sold its loss making cable laying ships it had been expected to lead to a gap in profits but Harris filled the void with a number of successful acquisitions in marine support services, leaving a record of consistent profit growth since he joined in 2001 intact. The businesses bought then are exactly the ones that according to latest interim results have continued to power ahead and even if the performance of its oldest remaining business in operating tankships (a fleet of vessels to transport petroleum products around the coasts of northern Europe) has been affected by a reduction in volumes, we think there is going to be no let up in ...
