H&T, the UK's largest pawnbroker, has issued a strong set of interims leading to a second upgrade to broker forecasts in six months. Pretax profit was £4.6m in H1 08 compared with £3.3m in H1 07. Adjusted eps lifted by 25% to 8.9p.For those subscribers who are new to the business, the company's mainstay is to provide pawn loans and speciality finance (short-term cash advances, cheque cashing) to individuals.
