For the six months to 31 May, Electric Word reported sales of £4.5m and a profit before tax up from £116,000 to £313,000. That included a five month contribution from sports directory publisher SportBusiness Group (SBG) and one month from educational mail order business Incentive Plus, funded by two placings. Together, the two acquisitions contributed a net profit of £122,000, so excluding acquisitions, organic sales growth was 12% and organic growth in profit was 66%. Earnings per share were 0.23p. The public sector publications, aimed predominantly at teachers, generated an operating profit up 22% to £281,000 including a one month loss from Incentive Plus whose profits are strongly weighted towards ...
