ames Fisher’s shares have been depressed by worries about thecompany’s cable laying business, which operates  vessels that layfibre optic cables on the sea bed and what it might mean when theexisting contracts with armaments conglomerage General Dynamics come toan end in 2005. Obviously this means a gap in profit but management are not overly-concerned. On the contrary, under Tim Harris,a former P&O executive, Fisher has already been successful inreplacing the gap caused by the sale of one of its other cable layers,the Nexus, last year which led Fisher to replace those lost earningsthrough acquisitions and move the business more in favour of the marinesupport services division which now represents 49% of sales.   ...
