Latchways, which designs fall arrest safety-equipment under the Mansafe brand name, is a classic world beater with a record of sustained growth going back to before the group floated in 1998. Its growth is being driven by an increasing tide of safety-related legislation worldwide. But Latchways has had a relatively difficult time in 2002 when it was hit by a downturn in the US economy, as well as capital spending restrictions in the telecoms sector. But the tide has begun to turn and at the AGM last month, Latchways announced that it expected sales to reach an all time recordlevel in the first half, with profit well ahead of the corresponding period last year.
