James Fisher is an old friend to SCSW. Old timers will recall that it was a big winner the first time around; tipped at 205p in October ‘03, the shares went on to peak at 1530p, a six-bagger. In September 2015, at 1033p, I suggested banking profits and said goodbye to what had proved a long term eps compounder. At the time, however, things had begun to stall. Its steady diet of acquisitions had left an unwieldy looking group with 26 subsidiaries and operating margins were in decline. But by August 2022 the picture began to improve and I reinitiated coverage, and having just met with chief executive Jean Vernet this month, I can see the business seems to have found its second wind.
