I caught up again with finance director Laurence Keen. The company had reported interims a few weeks earlier. When I last wrote on Hollywood Bowl in February, it had been fantastically busy with the best ever conditions and the momentum has already helped push the shares up £1 but last year would always be a tough act to follow. It has now been 2.5 years since BOWL bought Canada’s Splitsville, bringing in five centres in Ontario. Since then, a string of small deals as well as a first greenfield opening has established an 11-strong chain. All the centres it bought had been in need of reconfiguration and refurbishment, and improvements have started to fall into place using the skills it has honed in the UK.
