In last month’s issue, I suspected a bid was likely before the end of Q3 as the Homesend payment hub looked increasingly as though it would need more money to fund the pre-payment timing gaps, given the huge jump off in payment volumes being seen. No real surprise then to see Wameja agree to a takeover by Mastercard just 9 days after the issue landed, 60% over last month’s tip but overall a bit of a cheeky offer.The next few Homesend KPIs were set to show acceleration so Mastercard is possibly buying Wameja before the price runs away from it.
