Despite COVID-19 uncertainty, as a supplier of critical niche products to the defence sector, Concurrent’s sites remained open during H1 with revenue of £9.2m only slightly down from last year’s £9.5m. Gross profit was maintained at £4.9m but productivity was reduced whilst staff worked from home and there was also a reduction in the amount of engineering costs that were capitalised. Consequently, pretax profit was £1.2m, down from £1.7m. Adjusted eps were 1.6p. Cash balances stand at £10m. CEO Jane Annear notes that Defence remains the largest sector, accounting for 68% of sales, and 96% of overall sales are for export with demand strong.
