Brexit and Trump’s trade war rhetoric has created much uncertainty everywhere. Meeting Arena this month post its interims I was told that whilst 70% of the business is high quality and repeat in nature -coming from supplying tenting and equipment for sporting events like the US Open, PGA and Wimbledon - the other 30%, which comes from biennial events (eg. Eurasia Cup, BMW Championship) and also parties, weddings and exhibitions, has faltered.Consequently, the company says that in the US there will be a £3m revenue miss this year with a £1m miss in the UK. When you consider this is in the context of annual sales of £170m, you wouldn’t expect a seismic impact but the business has high gross margins ...
