These are the first interims to include Retra, the colour cosmetics business it acquired, which sells under the Tecnic brand. Sales were up 39% to £18.4m (+7.3% for “old” Warpaint) but operating profit was down 8% at £2.8m as Retra is a gifting business and typically loses money in the first half. Importantly, Retra has been fully integrated and the gifting order book of £8.2m is said to be £1m higher year-on-year. Segmentally the own brand side comprising W7 and Retra grew to £15.4m sales.
