The simplest reason why STV is likely to prove a good medium term investment is that its two free-to-air terrestrial channels in Central Scotland and Northern Scotland show no sign of losing their audiences in the era of multi-channel television. STV's audiences have held up well because the company is an ITV affiliate, which gives it the right to transmit ITV content including great programmes like Coronation Street, Emmerdale and Downton Abbey.
