Optimal Payments - July and August trading set records

As anticipated last month, Optimal has reported interims and also confirmed that it expects to exceed full year profit expectations. For the first six months to 30 June, pretax profit was US$1.7m versus a loss of US$41m last time. Meanwhile EBITDA came in at US$11.2m (28% ahead of broker forecasts!), compared to US$6.4m and US$17.5m at the 2011 half year and full year, respectively. Overall, turnover was up 37% to US$78.9m, helped by the Netbanx straight through processing arm where sales grew to US$61.9m (up US$25m) helped by strong demand from existing customers (particularly the large unnamed Chinese one) as well as from new ones won during the period.
