Stadium (SDM; 70p) is the kind of company that in more buoyant conditions could really kindle the imagination of private investors. This is because the company’s recently appointed chief executive, Stephen Philipson, intends to grow the business in the mould of XP Power (XPP; 1050p), whose shares starred in the last bull run. XP’s shares rose from under 150p in 2008 to peak at 1980p last year, before the bubble was finally pricked.Phipson has only just come on board in the first week of September but is not shy about talking of his plans for Stadium.
