You never know where the next good idea is going to spring from. We typically speak with or meet at least a dozen or so companies each month and occasionally we meet with some just to be charitable. A few years ago, we recall a random meeting with Bob Holt of Mears. At the time, Mears was tiny with a market capitalisation of barely Â£10m and a handful of contracts to maintain social housing. The share price languished as most investors perceived the business to be just too small and to be honest, a business cleaning windows and mending broken toilets seemed unlikely to set the world on fire.
