The restaurant sector has suddenly shrunk with the loss of both Carluccioâ€™s and Clapham House following bids. Even the biggie of the sector, Restaurant Group (RTN; 267p), is expected to receive interest from Mitchell and Butler. This has been sufficient to send Prezzoâ€™s shares up 22% during the month, a gain of 100% since our main recommendation in June â€˜09. Against a sector in a ferment of consolidation, Prezzo has played a small part itself having bought 11 units last month from Caffe Uno and is expected to have a second bite at the cherry and buy a further 20-odd units before long.As well as buying those 11 units, during the latest H1, Prezzo also resumed its opening programme with seven more units but two closures ...
