A business that has laid out its stall to provide organic and natural products would naturally be expected to see a marked slowdown as consumers become reluctant to pay the usual 20% premium price for such products. Against that backdrop and also having to contend with increased raw material and utility costs Glisten has still managed to hold its head above water and reported a solid set of results for the year to 30 June. Sales grew by 26% to Â£73.8m (11% excluding acquisitions) with pretax profit up 18% to Â£6.7m. Eps went up 14% to 30.8p. The reason for a resilient performance, says finance director Rob Davies, is that Glisten's products typically cost between 99p and 199p and are therefore still affordable treats in tough econ ...
