By any standards, Glisten’s management have done everythinginvestors could have expected from them. The company effectively onlystarted out in 2002 when the current management, led by chief executivePaul Simmonds and finance director Robert Davies, took control of theoriginal chocolate-coated confectionery business with the intention ofusing it as a platform to build a niche food group. Their dream was to grow sales from £14.2m to £100m within five yearsthrough a combination of organic and acquisitive growth. The resultshave so far been impressive and although sales going into the sixthyear are forecast to be £73m, falling shy of the original £100m, thelevel of profitability it is achieving is far higher.
