It’s with disbelief that I have to update on Patisserie as I haven’t come across too many situations like this during 25 years in the City. During the month the company stunned investors with the news that there was a winding up order of its main subsidiary, Stonebeach Ltd, by HMRC due to an unpaid £1.14m tax bill and that “historical statements on the group’s cash position had been misstated and subject to fraudulent activity.”The company had claimed in its year end statement in March that it had cash of £28.8m and the man who can best explain where the cash has gone and why the company has instead got £9.8m debt is Chris Marsh, the company’s finance director who was suspended, ...
