The market took fright after May Gurney announced the sudden departure of its chief executive Philip Fellowes-Prynne together with an H1 trading update. Some investors were quick to suggest that black holes had been found but May Gurney has been at pains to point out that there are three very specific issues (MaGos contracts, facility services and the Scottish Utilities business). Elsewhere, momentum has been maintained in winning new work with Â£126m of new work and Â£150m of extensions won in the first five months, taking the order book to Â£1.5billion.
