The No. 1 specialist tile retailer issued a preclose statement ahead of results on 24 November. This said that overall sales will be Â£186m, down 13.5% on a like-for-like basis. At the end of September, Topps operated from 320 stores in the UK and Holland, having closed 22 units during the year.Topps isnâ€™t out of the woods yet but sales are stabilising as housing transactions lift from very depressed levels although the weakness of sterling remains a bit of a challenge. Reflecting the high operational gearing, Singer has upgraded its eps forecast for this year and next by 25% to 6.7p.We think this is the first of many upgrades.
