Powerleague has received a recommended offer from Patron, which values it at Â£42.5m or 52p a share. During the month, Powerleague also reported its results for the year to 4 July with sales of Â£30.9m and adjusted operating profit before exceptional items of Â£7.5m. Given that Powerleague has debts of Â£40m, the offer looks a fair one. Patron already holds a 29% interest in Powerleague and has two directors on its board. Sports retailer JD Sports (JD.; 502p) is also rumoured to be considering a counter bid but given that Patron is already a 29% shareholder in Powerleague, the chance of an offer is slim.We think the deal is cut and dried but sadly they are snatching away the opportunity to benefit from ...
