Flying Brands - Recants on Jersey roots

The shares have risen sharply since we buy rated them in May at 48.5p. At the time what had excited our interest was the purchase of 3.16m shares (equivalent to a 12.48% interest at 50p) by the new chief executive, Stephen Cook - and he had also borrowed some of the money to do so. Cook is clearly a man in a hurry and progress has been fairly rapid, with growth returning to the Gardening Direct mail order brand, the appointment of a new group sales and marketing director from Experian to spruce up the online offering and also a strategic change in the Flying Brands brand.Reporting on its Q3 performance, sales from continuing operations (excluding the now defunct Greetings Direct brand, which is being wound down) fell 2% to Â ...
