Synergy Healthcare, which provides linen and surgical decontamination services to hospitals, has launched a contested bid for Isotron (a Sharewatch tip in August ‘01 at 284p), a provider of gamma radiation for sterilisation of single use medical devices, implants and dressings. Isotron also sterilises non-health items such as food packaging, cosmetics and veterinary products where sterilisation to medical standards is not required. Synergy is offering 1.09 new shares for each Isotron share with a cash alternative of 700p. The bid has been rejected.
