Chorion - Noddy growing in Japan and the US

Largely reflecting the timing of Agatha Christie dramas (one film in H1 04 but none delivered in H1 05) and the completion of a longstanding partwork campaign, Chorion reported slightly reduced revenues of £7.4m vs £7.6m at the half year stage. Despite that, adjusted pretax profit grew by 20% to £1.8m and eps by 24% to 5.2p. On the children's television side, the period was marked by Chorion taking full control of the merchandising rights relating to Mr Men which previously sat outside the group. It was that and also a revitalised Noddy which helped higher margin merchandising income more than double from £0.91m to £2m.
