Finding great investment ideas is a bit like being a shaman: I do my little dance and the rains come. Sadly, reality requires more graft than this. My approach every month typically involves speaking to around 20 companies exhibiting certain characteristics that I seek. The list often starts longer but some might not be available because the CEO is on holiday, etc, but from the ones I do get to talk to, I narrow it down to just two or three main recommendations by the end of the month. Along the way, I analyse the financials, potential news flow and relative strength.
