SDI Group - Two more acquisitions

SDI has completed two acquisitions. Bigger of the two is Safelab, a UK manufacturer of high specification fume and biological safety cupboards. In the year to end February, the business had sales of £4.8m and operating profit of £0.9m. SDI has paid £7.7m - 5.9x operating profit. The second buy is Scientific Vacuum Systems for £4.9m including earnout. SVS specialises in custom physical vapour deposition systems for the deposition of thin film coatings typically on semiconductor wafers -  for use in scientific research, industrial and semiconductor manufacturing applications. For the year to end September, it had sales of £2.5m and EBIT of £0.7m - so 8.6x EBIT. The two deals go some way to offseting the absence of the big ATI ...
