The subject of this article, OnTheMarket (one of the three UK quoted property portals alongside the better known Zoopla and Rightmove (RMV; 618p)), regularly puts out a housing sentiment index. Its April report said that 75% of UK buyers were confident that they would buy a property in the next three months; 82% of sellers were confident they would sell in the same time period. It also said 64% of properties were sold subject to contract within the first 30 days. But I just cannot help thinking that the recent ramping up of house prices is about to come to an abrupt end as lenders reduce mortgage affordability in the face of falling household incomes.
