Medica - Moves into US$1bn US clinical trials market

Whilst COVID-19 proved a headwind for Medica (MGP; 158p) with elective procedures postponed at the start of the pandemic, signs are mounting that the long dull period for its shares will soon be over with hospital waiting lists climbing to 4.6m - the highest since records began.Established in 2004, Medica’s mainstay is an outsourced service for hospital radiology. Hospitals send images such as CT and MRI scans to its offsite consultant radiologists for remote interpretation. The radiologists who do the remote interpretations are usually working full time in the NHS or at private hospitals but are willing to work extra shifts, and typically work two four-hour shifts for Medica.
