Judges chief executive, David Cicurel, is one of those dessicated calculating machines. We say that with some fondness. With a corporate finance background his first love was a buy-and- build strategy in the food sector and this time round he has been applying his skills to build a large scientific equipment business; it's all about the numbers and deal structure - the business could in essence be making anything and this comes out in the latest results statement, which hardly mentions what the various parts of the group do. Latest results for 2013 show just how far the business has come with eight consecutive years of record sales, pretax profits, earnings per share and dividends.
