Ahead of full year results on 7 June, Hornby said trading remains in-line. The broadening of the supplier base is 'continuing successfully' (the problematic Chinese supplier is less than a quarter of volumes) and should drive reliability and availability improvements in the current year. Supporting the optimism around the product pipeline, new products, including the Quick Build concept across both Airfix and Scalextric brands, have been received 'enthusiastically' at toy fairs. The supplier disruption and the Olympics shortfall will mean that last year will have been the low ebb, with brokers expecting a strong move back into the black, with solid profitability reemerging this year.
