Shares in Ideal, the UK's only quoted TV channel operator, have broken sharply higher. This follows a strong set of results for 2009. Having seen flat sales at H1, the business came alive in H2, when sales grew by an astonishing 18% and it has continued, with the recent cold snap and recessionary environment being a natural driver of home shopping. Overall, sales for the year were up 9% to £103m and this was sufficient to push the company back into the black with a pretax profit of £1.3m, versus a loss of £4m last year.
