Falkland Island Holdings (FKL; 410p) is a name unlikely to be familiar to many investors. The company was admitted to AIM in 2002, even though its core business, based in the Falklands, was established under Royal Charter in 1852. Back when the company was formed, it owned almost half the land on the island and although this has since fallen over the century to only 200 acres, prospects seem much brighter than they have for a long time.A business based in the Falklands is unlikely to have obvious attractions. The original focus of the island, an archipelago in the South Atlantic ocean, 200 miles off the coast of Argentina, was sheep farming in a tough terrain.
