China Shoto - Switches production from bicycle batteries to backup batteries for the telcos

China Shoto operates three battery factories in China producing primarily two main types of battery - backup power batteries for base stations and power type batteries (PTBs) for electric bicycles. With over 60 million electric bicycles (which require a battery changeover every 9 to 12 months) and also 360 million mobile phone users in the country, there is clearly strong demand on both sides of its business.
