Plasmon, (PLM; 45p) which develops optical drives and media for archiving, has always held out a promise of becoming an explosively growing business. But started in 1985 and listed on the stockmarket in 1996, the company has never quite delivered on those promises and a number of fundraisings have gradually been diluting the potential for investors. But what was starting to look like a “cigar butt” of an investment was given a sudden lease of life last month when activist investor Hanover acquired a significant stake and appointed two of its members to the board.
