The warmest April on record didn’t keep investors away with the FTSE back up to levels last seen in 2000. The Dow performed even better and climbed to an all time record, whilst the Chinese exchange has rocketed 40% since February after the well publicised 9% drop. Most of the running therefore seems to have been in larger caps triggered by bids and hedge fund activity but in our Growth Portfolio universe, the stars were Spice (hitting a high of 580p), Character (209p) and Vega (287p). In terms of new additions during the month, we added both Arena at 71.5p and Cosalt at 374p.
