Results for 2006 sent shares in industrial battery supplier China Shoto back to the bottom of the trading range they have been stuck in since June last year, when the group raised £5m via a placing at 160p. The results showed revenue up 134% to £66.4m whilst pretax profit showed a smaller 40% increase to £5.4m, partly due to a rising lead price, its main raw material. Earnings were 19.5p. The core business of supplying reserve power batteries for the telecoms operators showed sales up 38% to £39.2m (60% of the total) compared to £28.4m in 2005 when it was the group’s only activity.
