Character shares went over £2, their highest level for seven years. That was helped by excellent results for the six months to 28 February but Character had already guided estimates upwards following its statements during January and April. Character's performance in H107 continued to be driven by the strength of the owned-product portfolio which included the 2006 Toy of the Year (Cyberman Voice Changer Helmet) as well as strong lines such as Peppa Pig, Scooby Doo and GR8 Art. Sales grew by 38% to £56m and pretax profit doubled from £3.2m to £6.4m, almost matching the total profit for the whole of last year.
