A disappointing trading update ahead of results and continuing uncertainty over the protracted drilling at Kallirachi created the perfect environment for hedge funds to short the shares. In Kallirachi, drilling of the second appraisal well has intersected four prospective reservoirs. An update is expected later this month once the testing of reserves is completed although one of these is likely to be uneconomic. Against that news, Regal's gas find in Romania was largely ignored by the market. Not that this particular acreage was expected to deliver anything but a big discovery.
