N Brown is a niche catalogue and internet-based retailer that specializes in offering fashionable clothing for the “plus size” and 50+ markets. The prime target is women who might be intimidated by the high street fashion stores, which tend to stock size ranges for skinny goddesses and whose older ranges tend not to be very stylish. The group’s online brands include Simply Be, Jacamo and JD Williams as well as Figleaves.com, an upscale lingerie brand.Under chief executive Angela Spindler the company has spent the last three years reinventing itself by moving from paper-based catalogues towards becoming a pure online retailer by cutting into its legacy cost base and investing in new areas.
